Dental implants
An implant is a titanium screw that acts as a root and a crown that acts as a tooth. Planned well it lasts decades; planned badly it causes trouble from the first year. The difference is almost always in what happens before surgery.

We start with a 3D scan to see the bone that is actually there, not the bone we assume is there. That image decides the position, the width and the length of the implant, and whether bone needs regenerating first. We go through that study with you on screen, with your own x-ray in front of you.
Placement is done under local anaesthetic and usually takes under an hour. Then come a few weeks of integration while the bone grips the implant, and only then does the final crown go on. We do not rush that step: a crown fitted too early is the most common way to lose a good implant.
If you are missing more than one tooth, you do not always need one implant per tooth. Sometimes two implants carry a bridge of three and the result is just as solid for considerably less money. We tell you that too.
