Children's dentistry

A child who leaves their first dental visit happy is spared twenty years of dread. That is why a child's first appointment at Denimplant is not a check-up, it is an introduction.

Child laughing in a sunflower field

On that first visit the child sits in the chair, rides it up and down, sees the mirror and the air syringe, and we explain what everything does. If something needs looking at, we look. If they do not fancy opening their mouth that day, that is fine and we leave it for next time. We never hold a child down to treat them.

From there we work with check-ups every six months, fissure sealants on the permanent molars as they come through, and fluoride where the caries risk justifies it. Most of the childhood decay we see appears in the same place at the same age, and sealing prevents it for far less than filling it costs.

We also watch how the teeth are coming through and whether the child breathes through the mouth or clenches at night, because those are much easier to correct at eight than at fifteen.
