A well-planned, well-maintained implant lasts decades. What ruins one is almost never the titanium: it is the gum around it when cleaning is poor or the patient smokes. That is why first-year follow-up is included and we ask for a yearly review after that.

Not during the procedure, because it is done under local anaesthetic. Afterwards there is usually soreness and swelling for two or three days, controlled with the medication we prescribe. If pain increases from the third day instead of settling, call us.

No, and be wary of anyone who suggests it lightly. A healthy natural tooth is almost always worth more than its replacement. We only remove what cannot reasonably be saved, and we explain that tooth by tooth.
